AXIS ist ein zweitägiges Musik-Festival, das im engen Austausch mit Theater, Tanz, bildender Kunst und Literatur steht. In diesem Umfang und mit der zu erlebenden Konsequenz: eine Premiere für das Volkstheater Rostock. Achsen zwischen unterschiedlichen künstlerischen Disziplinen zu bilden, so lautet das erklärte Ziel der ersten Ausgabe.

Zusammenarbeiten von Ensemblemitgliedern des Volkstheaters und eingeladenen Künstler:innen, die jeweils alle zum ersten Mal in Rostock auftreten, vielfach mit speziell für AXIS entwickelten Programmen, prägen das Festivalprogramm.

AXIS bedient sich verschiedenster Räume. Den Zugang zum Festival wird das radikal umgestaltete Garderobenfoyer markieren. Auf der Großen Bühne werden eine Filmvorführung und Konzerte stattfinden. Parallel richten wir das Ateliertheater als intimen Ort für konzentriertes Hören und Sehen ein. Das große Foyer stellt das Festivalzentrum dar. An weiteren (Zwischen-)Orten setzen wir in der Popkultur verankerte Literatur in Szene.

Am 16. September lädt AXIS alle Rostocker:innen ein, sich von 12-16 Uhr kostenlos einen Eindruck vom Festival zu verschaffen.

AXIS is a two-day music festival that is closely related to theatre, dance, visual arts and literature. To this extent and with the consistency that will be experienced, it is a premiere for the Volkstheater Rostock. Forming axes between different artistic disciplines is the declared goal of the first edition.
Collaborations between invited artists, all of whom are appearing in Rostock for the first time, often with programs specially developed for AXIS, and the theater and dance sections of Volkstheater run through the festival.AXIS uses a wide variety of spaces. The entrance to the festival is marked by the radically redesigned cloakroom. A film screening and concerts will take place on the main stage, while we are setting up the Ateliertheater as an intimate place for concentrated listening and seeing. The large foyer represents the festival’s centre, at other (intermediate) locations we are staging literature anchored in pop culture, and the Chorsaal will also be used.

On September 16, AXIS will invite everyone in Rostock from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. to get an impression of the festival free of charge.
